About the School

Al-Majeed School of Research Methodology and Innovation exists to develop a stronger culture of research, critical thinking, methodology and innovation — and to give that culture a permanent home.

Our beginning

An initiative, then an institution

The School was founded on an observation that will be familiar to anyone who has taught, supervised or examined student work: capable people are rarely short of intelligence or effort. What they are short of is method. They are asked to produce research long before anyone has shown them how research is actually designed, defended and reported.

Al-Majeed School was established to close that gap deliberately rather than by accident. It brings methodology to the centre of learning — as a discipline in its own right, with its own standards, its own literature and its own practice — and treats every learner as a researcher in formation.

This is more than the launch of an institution. It is the beginning of a research and innovation ecosystem: one in which questions are taken seriously, evidence is handled honestly, and good work is carried outward into practice.

The vision, stated plainly

To transform learners from knowledge consumers into knowledge creators.

The motto

Research · Methodology · Innovation — the three words carried on our seal, and the three stages of everything we teach.

The conviction

Every meaningful innovation begins with a question, and every great researcher begins with the courage to ask it.

Vision & mission

What we are here to do

Vision

A generation that creates knowledge

A research culture in which learners across every discipline are equipped to ask precise questions, investigate them rigorously, and contribute findings that others can build on — rather than only receiving and repeating what has already been established.

Mission

To make method teachable, and rigour ordinary

To provide structured training, supervision and practical tooling in research methodology, analysis, writing and innovation; to support projects from question to publication; and to connect learners, educators and institutions into a working research community.

Teach the method

Design, sampling, instrumentation, analysis and ethics taught as a coherent discipline rather than as scattered technique.

Supervise the work

Structured mentorship and review, so that projects are corrected while they can still be corrected — not after submission.

Carry it forward

Support for publication, dissemination and translation, so that completed research reaches the people it was meant to serve.

Values

The standards we hold ourselves to

These are not decorative. They govern how programmes are designed, how work is assessed, and what we are willing to put the School's name to.

Integrity above outcome

Honest data, accurate citation, and an honest account of what did not work. A negative result reported truthfully is worth more to the School than a favourable result that cannot be defended.

Method before conclusion

A finding is only as trustworthy as the design that produced it. We teach participants to earn their conclusions and to state the limits of what their evidence can support.

Rigour without gatekeeping

High standards, open doors. Research literacy should not be the privilege of a single discipline, a single language or a single institution.

Ethics as a first step

Consent, confidentiality, safeguarding and responsible data handling are settled before fieldwork begins, not negotiated afterwards.

Usefulness as the test

Research that never leaves the file drawer has not finished its job. We ask every participant where their work is meant to land, and who is meant to benefit.

Our approach

How the School teaches

Practice, not lectures alone

Participants work on a live research question of their own from the first session. Every module produces a deliverable that becomes part of a real project.

Discipline-agnostic foundations

The logic of inquiry is shared across fields. We teach the common core, then apply it inside each participant's own discipline and context.

Review at every stage

Proposals, instruments, analyses and drafts are reviewed by mentors and peers, mirroring the scrutiny that real academic and professional work receives.

Tools that transfer

Reference management, analysis software and reproducible workflows are taught as durable professional skills, not one-off demonstrations.

Writing treated seriously

Clear argument, precise language and honest reporting are trained deliberately — the point at which most promising research is lost.

A route to innovation

Where a finding has practical potential, participants are supported to develop it into a prototype, proposal, policy submission or venture.

Beyond the classroom

Building an ecosystem, not a course catalogue

A single course changes one person. An ecosystem changes what a community expects of itself. The School is being built so that its parts reinforce each other: trained participants become mentors, completed projects become teaching material, and partner institutions gain capacity they keep.

  • Training — structured programmes across the eight capability areas.
  • Supervision — mentorship for live dissertations, theses and studies.
  • Community — seminars, clinics and peer review among participants.
  • Publication support — guidance from manuscript to submission.
  • Institutional partnership — capacity building for schools, colleges and organisations.
